We went to the Seabee Museum, in Port Hueneme, where I was stationed in the early sixties. It had changed a lot, but it was still quite nostalgic for me.

Then came Santa Barbara. There is the old Mission, quaint stuff, and the Hotel California of the Eagles song. |

Then we stopped at San Simeon, the Hearst Castle. Words (and even pictures) can not do justice to the opulence and beauty of this place. The general rule here is: "If it looks like gold...it's GOLD" |

Then up the coast to beautiful Monterey where we saw sea otters and the most amazing sand sculpture |

Then it was on to San Francisco |

Muir Woods, the home of the giant Redwood trees |

Afterward, a bit of sight-seeing |

Finally, it's on to Las Vegas for the relaxing part of the trip. Here the rule is - "If it looks like gold...it isn't!!" |
