Birth

1943

Check out my birth announcement, below.  Hard to believe such a momentous occasion was only heralded by this cheesy "2-for-a nickel" card.

Anyway, note the weight:  7-11   I consider this to be an OMEN.  And, as it turns out, I think that, all-in-all, I've been a pretty lucky guy.

Ok, ok.  I see you've noticed that it's "Stephen."  I think this sort of thing was an attempt by our parents generation to capture that elusive bit of "class" with a strangely spelled name.  Somehow, to them, Steven denoted "common" while Stephen was just a bit "classier."  What's the difference.  We all grew up as "Steve's" anyway.  That year I guess it was a pretty common name, because, throughout my entire school career there were almost always at least 2 other "Steve's" in every class I ever had!!

....and no middle name!!  What was that all about?  As a child I always wondered....were we too poor for me to have a middle name?
